Blog 2

The second article talks about the early history of the internet as a medium for artists to share their works. It shows how powerful the influence of artists was on the popularity of the internet. Given that by posting art on the internet anyone can view it this gave an incentive to both people making art and to those who wanted to view art to have it be online. While this article almost entirely talks about the early days of the internet it's not hard to see the extent to which this is still true today. People of all skill levels and coming from all backgrounds can and do post their art to the internet because of how far it can reach. Obviously today the internet is far more established and therefore the art isn't just thrown out onto the internet but goes through companies that run media websites. This could be Instagram, Reddit, an art station, or simply a personal blog but the influence of the internet on art and art on the internet can not be understated. What the people working n this early internet correctly understood was that the internet is a powerful tool and companies and corporations would seek to carve out a slice for themselves. While this is true and we are only now getting around to talking about who should be able to own what on the internet I think we can still see that the internet is, for the most part, a free domain where anyone can do anything. I would like to finish by saying that while the information from this article is interesting it doesn’t seem to have a point, while not all writing needs to have a point the way in which this is written seems like it is attempting to prove something while in actuality it reads more like an information dump to simply get it out there.
